Board Outreach


The members of the CAWCD Board of Directors are committed to ensuring that the people and the communities we represent are informed about CAP goals, policies and activities. In addition to regular Board meetings, which are open to the public, Board Members appear at select community events, provide presentations to business and service organizations, and sponsor informational forums where they have to opportunity to interact directly with constituents.

Previous Outreach Events

August 26, 2010 - Project ADD Water Meeting
The ADD Water Broad Implementation Guidance (BIG) Group met from 1:00 - 4:30 PM  at CAP Headquarters in Conference Rooms 10 and 11. The meeting included updates and discussions on contracts, financial mechanisms and the relationship between CAGRD and ADD Water.  Board Members were able to participate in person or via phone. The BIG Group is where the ADD Water Program will seek to finalize stakeholder agreements and other points of consensus during implementation.

August 18, 2010 - Central Arizona Project Association Meeting
7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., Water leaders, community leaders and elected officials met to discuss the many legislative and regulatory challenges facing CAP in the coming years. The breakfast meeting, hosted by the Central Arizona Project Association, was held at The University Club in Phoenix. 

August 12, 2010 - Board Work/Study Session - Power
9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Sheraton Crescent Hotel, 2620 West Dunlap Ave, Phoenix - Crescent A Room
The Board heard and discussed updates on power issues including power resources and requirements, EPA rulemaking and the Navajo Generating Station, and status of renewable power supplies. The meeting was open to the public.

May 7, 2010 - CAP Leadership Forum
7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., Renaissance Hotel & Spa, Glendale, AZ, This biennial event was incorporated into the agenda of the annual conference of the AZ Water Association. CAP Board and senior staff provided overviews of CAP operations, critical issues and a special discussion of NGS and power issues.


April 28, 2010 - Pima County Water Forum
7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m., The Pima County CAP Board members hosted an informative and interactive discussion about the water challenges facing Southern Arizona and CAP. A light breakfast was followed by a panel discussion and question and answer period facilitated by Arizona Illustrated's Christopher Conover. Board members also hosted a 90-minute ‘listening and discussion' session on CAP water reliability in the Tucson region.
