CAP’s maintenance program recently joined an elite group of less than two dozen organizations that have received the North American Maintenance Excellence (NAME) Award.
Award criteria is rigorous and CAP is the first organization in Arizona to receive this recognition.
NAME is presented by the Foundation for Industrial Maintenance Excellence (FIME) to recognize companies that excel in operational excellence with regard to maintenance and reliability. In all, CAP provided more than 200 pages of documentation, which prompted a four-day site visit during which FIME auditors conducted formal and informal interviews with CAP employees.
“These awards recognize our world-class performance maintaining the CAP system,” says Tom McCann, deputy general manager. “This is the result of the expertise of CAP’s craftsmen, tradesmen and maintenance professionals who ensure our customers can rely on the Colorado River water provided to them each day.”
The auditors commended CAP on its safety performance, the physical condition of facilities, apprenticeship training and employee morale. The group also noted the focus on system reliability across the organization, including CAP’s exemplary approach to equipment maintenance and reliability.
Other NAME Award recipients have included Frito Lay, Alcoa, Alberta-Pacific, U.S. Steel, Novartis, Texas Instruments and Kodak.
