FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Central Arizona Project has received the Government Finance Officers' Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the ninth consecutive time.
CAP received the award for its 2012-2013 Biennial Budget. To date, CAP has received the award for five annual and four biennial budget presentations covering 13 years.
"It is an honor to receive this award, even after so many years," said Ted Cooke, CAP Assistant General Manager of Finance and Information Technology. "The criteria are tough and the judges are practicing government finance professionals. It is not a 'slam dunk' by any means."
In order to receive this award, a government unit must publish a budget document that meets stringent program criteria as a policy document, an operations guide, a financial plan and a communications device. The award is valid for a period of two years only.
"We gear up for this extraordinary effort every other year," Cooke said. "We owe this accomplishment not only to our outstanding Finance and Accounting staff, but also all of the departments that are involved in the process, senior management, our Board and our customers."
