Central Arizona Project (CAP), Arizona's single largest resource for renewable water supplies, supports and funds organizations that promote CAP's purpose to ensure an adequate and reliable water supply to the residents of central and southern Arizona. Twice a year, CAP awards about $25,000 in grants, up to $5,000 to each recipient, to nonprofit organizations in Maricopa, Pima and Pinal counties for projects that depend on Colorado River water, enhance alternative water usage or promote water conservation. CAP announces the semi-annual award winners in June and December. The application deadline for the next set of grant awards is May 1, 2013.
During the last application cycle, CAP awarded eight grants totaling $25,000. The recipients included a variety of water or environmental education and outreach programs for children and adults.
A Charitable Contributions Committee, consisting of a member of CAP’s popularly-elected Board of Directors, staff and customers, reviews all applications. CAP notifies all applicants of the results of their applications through written correspondence.
