Protect Lake Mead Logo

The health of Lake Mead, the country's largest storage reservoir, is threatened due to falling lake levels. CAP has been collaborating with the federal government, partner states and Mexico to address these declines, which are not just because of extended drought, but also a structural deficit, which is an imbalance between supply and demand. Because of this deficit, more water is being taken out of the lake than is flowing in, causing the lake level to fall approximately 12 feet per year and rapidly increasing the risk of shortage to Arizona and CAP.

All Colorado River water users, regardless of state, priority, or use sector must work quickly and diligently to protect the river and the communities that rely on its water supply. We hope you will get involved by pursuing a greater awareness of these issues, supporting our Arizona water utilities and elected officials in the difficult and potentially unpopular decisions they may have to make.
