In response to the need for additional reductions in water use from Lake Mead, over and above those required by the 2007 Guidelines and Drought Contingency Plan, the Lower Basin States (Arizona, California, Nevada) and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation have developed the 500+Plan. The goal is to conserve an additional 500,000 acre-feet or more per year – beyond DCP reductions — to benefit Lake Mead.
