Excess Water Task Force
Excess Water Task Force
Background
In August 2017, CAWCD convened the first meeting of the “Excess Water Task Force,” which was chaired and comprised of CAWCD Board Members. Excess Water is defined as “. . . Project Water that is in excess of the amounts used, resold, or exchanged pursuant to long-term contracts and subcontracts for Project Water service.” The scope of the Task Force was to review existing policies related to the use of Excess CAP water with the intent of providing recommendations.
Conclusion
The Excess Water Task Force has concluded as of the Board meeting on March 1, 2018. The Task Force provided recommendations to CAP staff to enhance accounting, reporting, and publication of information related to excess water, including a recommendation for an annual meeting for staff to present the annual operating plan and other relevant information, and quarterly updates by the staff to the Board on activities related to excess water.
