Water Supply
Water Supply
Living in the desert is an amazing and unique experience. But most people ask – how do you have enough water in the desert? While the first answer is that we live here and we know how precious water is and how to conserve – the next answer is that it’s important to know that Arizona has several sources of water: groundwater (41%), Colorado River water (36%), water from in-state rivers – like the Salt, Verde and Gila – (18%) and reclaimed water – used for golf courses and other municipal uses (5%).
When we’re talking about Central Arizona Project, we’re talking about Colorado River water because CAP brings Colorado River water into central and southern Arizona and so that is the water supply CAP delivers.
