How to Read a Delivery Report
FAQ
CAP water delivery reports can provide answers to several important questions.
Yes, check the summary table in the YTD Delivery Report by Contract Type. These reported schedules represent water that was ordered by a Water User prior to the water delivery year and is updated intra-year as Water Users request changes to their water delivery schedules.
Yes, total delivery by contract type is available on the summary table in the YTD Delivery Report by Contract Type and detail to the water user level is included. Water ordered by a Water User is generally delivered to a Water User’s service area unless it has been requested to be delivered to a groundwater storage facility (USF or GSF).
Yes, YTD Delivery Report by Recharge Facility breaks down storage by storage type first – GSF (groundwater savings facility) and USF (underground storage facility); then by AMA (active management area); then by recharge facility; and finally by the entity that is storing.
For the purpose of the reports, the Water User is the entity that scheduled the water under the contract or agreement. The Water User isn’t necessarily the end user of the water. The Water User can direct the water to a GSF facility where an agricultural district can use the surface water in-lieu of pumping groundwater, for example. The Partner is the entitlement holder.
CAP has always measured the deliveries that it makes along the canal system from the first delivery in May 1985. The delivery reports serve as the vehicle for corroborating that the water user’s billed volume was also delivered as requested. Over the years as more water users came online, more information was added about the various locations of deliveries, cost per acre foot for various programs, and recharge. The format of reports has evolved by the request of CAP contract holders, but they were always meant for each water user to cross check against their own delivery records for accuracy. CAP continues to invest in technology to more clearly communicate and publish delivery data for our customers and other interested stakeholders.
